Hi ReligionUnplugged readers,
“Democrats are significantly less religious by any objective measure of the term compared to their Republican counterparts” — that’s one of the conclusions data analyst Ryan Burge makes in his latest story. Take a look at more of the stats he presents:
In 2021, about 45% of Democrats said that they were nones (or nonreligious), compared to 19% of Republicans.
Overall, Democrats attend church less: in 2008, nearly 50% of Republicans indicated they attended services weekly compared to just 31% of Democrats.
Republicans are also more likely to say that religion is very important to them.
The data points toward a deepening split over both politics and religion. For more information and Burge’s expert analysis, check out the full story on our site!
