The surprising key to understanding Middle East conflict
Conspiracy theories, Jerusalem and red heifers
Hi ReligionUnplugged readers,
In the Bible, Numbers 19: 1-2 reads: “The Lord said to Moses and Aaron: ‘This is a requirement of the law that the Lord has commanded. Tell the Israelites to bring you a red heifer without defect or blemish and that has never been under a yoke ….’” The same verse exists in the Quran.
Some believe that the sacrifice of the red heifer mentioned is essential before building the Third Temple in Jerusalem, and groups who hold this belief have taken steps to breed such a heifer.
With these actions, others fear that one of Israel’s primary goals is to destroy the Al-Aqsa complex in Jerusalem, which includes Muslim holy sites, in order to build the Third Temple.
In today’s top story, contributor Paul Marshall writes how these beliefs contribute significantly to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
Unblemished Red Heifers Key To Understanding Conflict In The Middle East
(ANALYSIS) A conspiracy theory held widely in the Middle East is that Israel is planning to destroy the site of Al-Aqsa complex in Jerusalem, which includes the Muslim holy sites of the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Some add this is part of a project to clear the buildings from the Temple Mount in order to build the Third Temple. A key part of this scheme is believed to be efforts to breed a flawless red heifer. by Paul Marshall
