New bishops in the Anglican Church of Uganda face legal battles
Here's why Christians are challenging their appointment
Hi ReligionUnplugged readers,
Christians in Uganda are challenging the election of new bishops to the Anglican Church, largely on the basis that these elections don’t follow the canon for appointing bishops.
In one recent case in Kigezi Diocese in western Uganda, a parishioner accused a new bishop of not meeting the educational standards required for the position.
Petitions against these bishops often result in difficult legal battles. They’ve become common across Uganda, particularly in the past decade.
In today’s top story, Uganda-based contributor John Semakula reports on several of these battles and the reason more of them are taking place.
