Dear reader,
Paul Glader here, executive editor at ReligionUnplugged. I know you get a lot of emails asking for your year-end contribution, and I’m sure there are many worthy organizations that could use your help. But I wanted to take this opportunity to share why we’re different, and why we need your support now more than ever.
ReligionUnplugged is a product of The Media Project, a nonprofit that educates journalists on the importance of religion at training programs worldwide — and provides a more profound understanding of the role of religion in public life through accurate and intellectually honest reporting.
We became an independent website in 2019 to become a hub of original religion reporting of high quality from around the world. In our early years, we’ve already experienced incredible growth. We have you to thank for that!
We achieve our goal of high quality, informed religion reporting every day through stories like those in our Orthodox Alaska series, which cover the much unexplored faith communities of Orthodox Christians in America’s northernmost state. We want to cover religion around the world with respect and deep understanding. This is reporting you won’t find anywhere else.
As a nonprofit, we depend on the support of readers like you to keep this critical work going. That’s why I’m excited to share that we have an incredible opportunity to increase the impact of your donation through NewsMatch, a call-to-action to support nonprofit news organizations around the country. From now through the end of the year, NewsMatch will match your new monthly donation 12 times or double your one-time gift, all up to $1,000 per individual. We can earn up to $15,000 in matching dollars, which means ReligionUnplugged can raise $30,000 in total.
Those who have donated already, thank you!
For a nonprofit magazine like us, this is a big deal and will help us deliver the kind of in-depth journalism you’ve come to expect, every day. It’s the kind of reporting that can make a real difference in our community. And it’s worthy of your support.
What do you say? Will you invest in community-driven journalism?
With gratitude,
Religion Unplugged
